Wine Simplicity

As I struggle to adapt to life off the road, I am finding myself slowly but deliberately seduced by the simple pleasures flowing in abundance here in Sonoma, California. These past several days have been filled with warm sunshine, the laughter of friends, and an endless supply of Pinot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet. Not to mention some pairing essentials: crackers, salame, fruit, cheese, chocolate, salmon, preserves, olives, etc...

For a recovering yuppie who has gone to his share of wine tastings and still barely knows the difference between Merlot and Cabernet, Sonoma has been a revelation.

Oh, man, you are really making me want a glass of wine. But it's only 4:00...hmm...

Thanks for the lovely photos!

You're an inspiration. It's amazing how quickly you've completely transformed yourself and your life. Best of luck to you as your adventure continues.

If you keep hanging out in Sonoma and S.F. your life won't stay so simple for long. It is EXPENSIVE around here.

Sounds like Heaven. Are you still riding your bike or have you opted for a car now? I would love to read the reverse adventure of your return trip to the East Coast via bike, however, I think there is much for you to explore out here on the west coast in support of your soul searching and personal growth adventure. Thanks Jack!!

@fatstupidamerican,

Probably not on this trip, assuming you are referring to sacramento.

@Jennifer,

NO problem. Thanks for writing your blog. Always a constant inspiration to me.

@Fellow DC Lawyer,

Thanks for the kind words. What's really cool is that this whole thing is just getting started.

I cannot wait till you get to Moonshine Simplicity! If you can tell me the difference between Firewater and Virginia Lightening, that will be revelatory.

I'd suggest a pairing with Cool Ranch Doritos.

@SF Kid,

I hear ya. Believe me, all of this stuff is in my budget. No more travel blowouts for awhile.

@Anonymous,

Naw. Rented a car in Orego and just drove down to Cali directly. It's too bad I can't stay out here full time...or can't I...

@Stiffie,

Moonshine Simplicity is my next order of business.

@Anand,

Thanks man. Nothing like it. Believe me.

@littlehouseontheprairie,

They do. But now working to up my cardio every day. Not a good thing to stop cold turkey.

@Pleaserecycle,

How true. Just lucky to be able to do this now, before ultra budgeting kicks in.

Mmmmm .....

Napa and Sonoma are so decadent. I LOVE those areas. Are you checking out stuff on the coast too? It's WILD looking coastline both north and south of SF !
