It’s done! The townhouse is now officially on the market. I can’t tell you how relieved I am. This has been a long time coming. There is still a ton of stuff to do (dealing with open houses, cleaning, paperwork, etc…) but the fact is that I am one step closer to embracing freedom. On my own terms. You can’t beat that!
Ok, back to work. Term Sheets, SPAs and APAs are easier to read when you actually see the end in sight. Only a couple of more months to go...

Good luck Jack...I hope it sells quickly.
I can't wait to put ours on the market, although it'll be a while yet :)
I hope it sells quick. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!
will it be a short sale? The last thing you need now is debt to the bank without even owning the house...
Hooray! We're all rooting for you!
Best of luck, Jack! Hoping for a speedy sale.
Yeah!!! I hope it sells quickly - it'll be a HUGE relief once it's finally gone.

Yay!!! I'm so excited for you. That is so awesome!
Jack, Good luck. I hope your sale is successful and quick...then come visit me! I think I can find on my boat a cramped little space for you to curl up in each night!

Laura,
Thanks. Me too. Believe me.
Carolyn,
Tell me about it.
Anonymous,
The weird thing is that it apparently is worth a little more than I paid for it. That was surprising. So selling it directly. Short selling it if I have to.
Amanda,
Thanks. That is nice to hear.
Miss Scorpio,
Thanks. Let's see what happens.
Nancy,
I'm giving it 3 months or so. Then I will reassess.
Wow....big step. Congratulations on taking it.
Dude, you're stoked. You're about to hit the pinata at god's birthday party. :) If I were you right now, I'd be feeling so relieved. That shit can get heavy. Everything I own fits in my (thirty year old) car, and I still feel it!

happy to hear you are selling directly. As a "stuck" biglaw associate myself (yeah, it's 10:40pm and I am still here at work) my biggest fear in terms of breaking free is the house and the school loans.

Anonymous,
Oh Yeah!
Teresa,
That would be awesome! I need to find my sea legs though...
livingmyrichlife,
Thanks
With all the new people moving to Washington this season, I hope one of them finds your place.
Good luck.
Carrot,
Totally envy that. Let's see how long it takes me to get there.
Anonymous #1,
Ouch! Luckily (or not) haven't had to stay past 8pm the past couple of months. I think the economy finally caught up to my firm. Ummm...sounds like what you might need is to sit down and figure out something that works for you. If you like the house keep it. If you hate student loans, figure out a payment plan to gets rid of them fast. Easier said than done, but you need that plan in place.
Anonymous #2,
I hope so as well. :)

BTW, my favorite version of the Christmas Carol is the Muppet Christmas Carol. My family watches it together every year.
Glad you had a nice break - I kinda pity these kids (now I feel old saying this) who only know life with Emails, texts, cell-phones, etc. They will never truly experience what it is like to unplug... Good luck with the sale.

Good luck jack! I hope your sale goes a lot better then ours :-)
I don't know what religion you are but for the record, John buried a St. Joseph statue and it still didn't work! Maybe if your's doens't sell, you should try it!
Bill,
That's definitely a classic. Partial to Scrooged, just for the camp value alone.
Anonymous,
Speaking of unplugging, going to be canceling cable next month. That's going to be interesting...
Miles,
Umm...I'm giving it 3 months and then I'm doing the same thing. :)
hope it sells soon!
